SOLA® Motorized Screens Frequently Asked Questions
What is the screen mesh made of?
SOLA® offers a variety of Phifer screen to suit your desired requirements. The screen fabrics are high quality vinyl-cooled polyester or fiberglass. Whether you are looking achieve maximum ventilation, protection from pest, solar protection or a combination of these, your qualified dealer can recommend the option that will best fit your needs.
Can you see through the screen?
Yes. SOLA® Screens are a practical solution because the screen material is available in a variety of weaves. Now you can block the heat and glare of the sun, without sacrificing your view.
What color of screen is easiest to see through?
Dark colors are easiest to see through because they absorb most the sun’s light and glare. Light colors reflect light back to your eyes making them a better choice for maximum privacy.
How do SOLA® Screens protect me from insects?
SOLA® Screens incorporate a unique edge retention system that keeps the screen in a track and prevents insects and other pests from entering your home or patio while the screen is in the down position.
What happens if I use my SOLA® Screens in high winds?
We do not recommend that you operate your SOLA® Screens in extremely windy conditions as SOLA® Screens are not intended to provide wind protection. SOLA’s® edge retention system, however, does alow you to keep your screens down in light to moderate winds without blowing out of the side guide rails. If you live in a windy area, we recommend that you purchase a wind sensor that will automatically retract your SOLA® Screens when it becomes windy.
